Hey all,

I've kinda asked this question a couple of weeks ago, but now I've bought a XTX used it for a few days and I'm finding the CPU is at 100% usage while the GPU is around 80% so I guess I should upgrade the CPU. I currently have a 12400F, so below is what I feel is my options but thought I'd get it out there for you good people to have a look at.

Stay with LGA1700 and upgrade the 12400f to 14600k total £300
Move down to AM4 5800X3D and mobo £420

Playing at 4k.

Cheers all.

14600K is alright, you could also get the discounted 12600KF (around £150+) which if you were able to sell your CPU might be a relatively small cost.

I would definitely not move to the 5800X3D, you'd be far better off spending the £400 on a 14700K.

I honestly would wait until zen 5. The 12400f can't be holding you back that much
TBH it's not, I'm getting over 100fps on Horizen Forbidden West, it's more that I know it's there and it's annoying me lol. Maybe waiting is the best bet, or just get a cheaper 12600kf for now.

I know the feeling but ZEN 5 is looking very promising, I would just try and hold tight if you have the will power

or get a 13600KF

you say your playing at 4K so the CPU is much less important and I would not bother sending hundreds on a new CPU
