In the wetlands...
Hi all,

I am thinking about the security of my desktop, and I think although obviously it's fairly hidden away and not high value - it would still present a temptation to any would be thieves.

Whilst the hardware is... dated... my bigger concern would be the hard drives and related data, and I wondered if there was a set-up that featured either and easy to remove hard drive, or some kind of lock that I could put in place to protect the data should the worst happen?

Thanks!

Some pc cases like my 011d xl
They have hot swap bays
Can take the drives out easily (4 of them)
Only sata drives not m2

Bitlocker or other encryption possibly
Though I have had Bitlocker go wrong before
Even though I had the recovery key
Still locked me out
So I don't use it anymore
You used to get 5.25 Bay for hard drives with a key
Could turn them on/off/lock them
But most cases now don't have a 5.25 bay

I just use a powered external enclosure by Sabrent for the drive with precious data on it. Turn on/off and just yank the drive out if you need to. Has its own cooling fan and everything.
