Handheld Options

We are going on holiday in July and I was thinking of getting a Switch lite for my 9 year old to play on the plane and during the holiday.
I then thought it would be nice to play some old retro games, gold axe sonic instead.

Can anyone recommend a handheld console?
Realistically needs to be cheaper than a switch lite.

Of the current handhelds, the Switch Lite is pretty much the cheapest option. PC handhelds, Steam Deck etc are all way more expensive and have poor battery life in comparison - not ideal for travel.

I bought a PS Vita for travel a couple of years ago, holds up pretty well. Mostly play FIFA on it though. Cash convertors and second hand shops have plenty games with big variations in price. Some of the weird japanese ones go for $100's on ebay.
Downside is no blutooth headphone support.

I think about getting one of these retro handhelds from time to time but I realise I have so many old gadgets that do the same thing so I hold off. Miyoo Mini was the brand/model that caught my eye. I dug out my Vita and 3DS too recently and the batteries still seem good, will probably just take these on my next trip.

There is a switch lite in MM currently for £60.. Please someone take the temptation of me buying it..
