Afternoon All,

I am looking to upgrade my graphics card after about 7 years of using a GTX 1080. Would prefer to stick with Nvidia and spend around £500. I use it with three monitors. What would people recommend?

Many Thanks

What's the rest of your rig?

PSU/CPU/Mobo/RAM etc, and what resolution is your monitor?

You're basically looking at a 4070 for that money if you can find one cheap enough, but I'd try to stretch a bit to a 4070S as a minimum. Anything below that is honestly not worth the money, but depending on the rest of your rig it might be a wasted upgrade.

If your psu is capable then do your best to stretch the extra 40 or 50 for a 4070 Super (even if you have to wait a few more weeks), seems to be the Nvidia value pick of the moment :)

Currently running:

Intel Core i5-10600k
MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Edge
Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 16GB 3600MHz
Corsair RM 850 PSU

Resolution of 5040 x 1080.

I used to have a lot of problems running multi mon on AMD, has been flawless on the 1080.

Thanks

I could look at spending closer to £600 for the super, seems like a reasonable option
4070 Ti is coming very close to that now too, just get a 4090, since that's where the ladder stops :D

On a serious note, what are you trying to achieve with the upgrade? Like, what games or apps are you using that you need higher performance?

Spend most of my time playing the likes of Apex Legends. Upgrading for the most part to give my son the 1080 for a first build.

I got a two year warranty so make no difference to me if it's used.
no you didnt, you think you did but you didnt. google trying to claim from CeX

CeX sell that for £580... not £505

OcUK are not the cheapest google is your friend, also i got a BGrade one for £470 so again CeX yer...

also its not 8% sadly for you, the 4070 super is 4070ti silicon.. and the 4070ti is a bit of a OC pig as its maxed out. i have a 4070s and it OC's passed the 4070ti that i also had.

I've seen 4070S go for as little as £520 tbh, I'm not sure I'd want to risk dealing with CeX customer support on a warranty claim unless I got a damned good price.

The company are laughably poor in some respects.

10fps on average in favour of the 4070ti at 1440P, not accounting for OC potential.

Yeah, I'd not be farting around with vouchers to grab a £500 4070ti personally. Maybe back when the cards were relatively new, but certainly not with the options we have available. You can actually get a 7800XT for less than that, and don't get me started on the 7900GRE.

Still not seeing anything at that price, anyway I was just offering a suggestion. But you win your imaginary argument, have a cookie.
