Was reading up on the 57" and 49" models, still just a speculative Q2 2023 release?

The 49" model hits the sweet spot for now glossy oled as well

I was drawn to the 57" model but all that screen real estate is wasted on a gamer, playing the latest titles at least. Great for everything else I imagine though.

hopefully, i'm just waiting on news about graphic card support for the resolution. Hopefully we can still run on old hardware at lower refresh rate, i'm not fancying a graphic card upgrade at the same time as this.

So a question raised on the 49" Samsung OLED thread about this monitor is can it's resolution be supported by a 4090 (or any other GPU)?
My thoughts on it were that possibly by HDMI 2.1 but not at 240Hz.
What are other people's thoughts on this?

As stated on:

tftcentral:

"Update 4/1/22 – according to a VESA press release promoting DP 2.1, this screen will use UHBR 13.5 link rates (total 54 Gbps bandwidth).
You might want to read our detailed article about DisplayPort 2.1 here for more information but the screen will feature some of the new UHBR bandwidth, as even with DSC the 7680 x 2160 @ 240Hz is way beyond DisplayPort 1.4’s bandwidth."

But I'm wondering if HDMI 2.1 will be able to handle the resolution?

As someone who has a 4090 and CRG9, I’m very interested in this 57inch monster. According to the specs on my ergotron stand it may support the weight but will await something official from ergotron on this.

I play a lot of MSFS so I guess there is a still a risk of stretched imaging at the sides or perhaps it won’t be as bad due to the increased resolution?
