Saw this trailer pop -up today and I thought it looked quite fun, plus it's good to see Cavill back on the big screen rather than Netflix, with both this and Argylle out this year!

The synopsis is as follows -

The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare is an action-comedy about the untold true story about an unorthodox special forces unit distributed by Lionsgate and a Guy Ritchie Film. Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events, The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare is an action-comedy that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming.

The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.

In theatres on the 19th April. Starring Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Babs Olusanmokun, Henrique Zaga, Til Schweiger, with Henry Golding, and Cary Elwes.

Looks damn good though. And I'm glad to see another movie that has the He-111 dropping bombs in the correct manner, i.e. vertically.

Given that it's 'based' on the book by Damien Lewis called Churchill's Secret Warriors, it should be about the Special Operations Executive and Small Scale Raiding Force (62 Commando). SSRF was disbanded in '43 and some members went to the SBS and a couple went to the SAS. SOE members generally went back to civilian life. A good chunk of operational staff did go to MI6 though.

This seems to be based on Operation Postmark, an attempt to capture some Italian and German ships. Suspect that as it's an action comedy film, won't be that close.
