When I was younger my mum used to buy wine before Xmas dinner and I remember it made me really hungry instantly.

the wines were called Niersteiner and Piersporter. Both German. You cant seem to get them in supermarkets any more, but is Riesling a suitable substitute?
To cut a longer explanation short, if you go and buy a German Reisling at around the same price, you'll probably get a similar styled wine. Googling Piesporter Wine still shows plenty of places selling it.

Hi pals,

Wanting to treat someone to a bottle of champagne to celebrate something. Is the following decent for £40, or is there something better in the up to £50 bracket?

Pol Roger is decent. Reasonable offer on Bollinger and Veuve there as well. Any Champagne is usually well received!!
