It has 1x PCI-E 5.0 M.2 slot.

The primary PCI-E (graphics) slot is PCI-E 4.0.

To be clear: I was not saying you need PCI-E 5.0 graphics, I was just telling you a reason why the B650E-F is often recommended.
It's a budget board but adequate.

Take a look at the

ASUS TUF GAMING B650-PLUS

I dont really understand these specs so i will share the price of each for 1080p esports gaming + potential AAA:

- ASUS TUF GAMING B650-PLUS – AMD Ryzen AM5 ATX PCIe 5.0 M.2 support, DDR5, 2.5 Gb Ethernet, USB4, Aura Sync RGB: 207 euros
- ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F Gaming Wifi - AMD Ryzen AM5 ATX, DDR5, 3 x M.2, PCIe 5.0, WiFi 6E, 2.5G LAN, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port, Aura Sync RGB: 269 euros
- ASUS PRIME B650-PLUS – AMD Ryzen AM5 ATX DDR5, PCIe 5.0 M.2 support, 2.5Gb Ethernet, DisplayPort, HDMI, SATA 6 Gbps, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, front USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, USB4, Arua Sync RGB: 174 euros
Wich would you recommend?

I decided to sell my hole current build for 500 euros i will need a new storage and pc case as well, i really dont care about the look if i can cheap out on this i will.

Here is my confirmed set up so far:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core
- GPU: MSI VENTUS 3X OC GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12GB
- CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE
- RAM: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB 32GB DDR5-6400 ------> ?
- Power Supply:
MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 750W 80+ Gold
- Monitor: Asus TUF Gaming VG249QM1A 23.8" 270Hz

- Motherboard: ?
- SSD: ?
- Case: ?

Motherboard I explain basic.

Prime cheap but will do the job if budget is tight.
TUF gaming mid range out of the 3 a solid choice.
E_F best out the 3 has a few more features so if you dont mind spending a few more euros

M2 drive what size. ? You want pcie4 for fastest speeds.

Case is a personal choice do you want RGB ? Lancool and phanteks are good options

Are these features worth 60 / 90 euros for my needs? If they dont potentially impact performance i will go without.

I had a 1tb nvme wich had plenty of space left

PCIE4 SSD I FOUND:

- Lexar NQ790 SSD 1TB NVMe 1TB SSD M.2 2280 NVMe Solid State Drive PCIe 4.0 Gen4x4, Up to 7000 MB/s Read, 6000 MB/s Write: 89 euros
- Crucial P3 Plus 500Go M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD interne - Jusqu’à 4700Mo/s - CT500P3PSSD8: 54 euros
- Kingston NV2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 Internal SSD 1TB M.2 2280 -SNV2S/1000G: 74 euros

I dont care about RGB i usually turn it off, but not against it if one has better price than non RGB for example.
I see so many prices i just want the minimum airflow and size compatibility, if i can get a 90 euros case that would be nice

for example i found: Corsair 4000D Airflow Tempered Glass Mid-Tower ATX Case (High Airflow Front Panel, Side Panel, Spacious Interior, Dual 120mm Fans Included): 89 euros

It is hard for us to answer that for you, what features do YOU need/want?

Personally, I'm fine with PCI-E 4.0 everything and 2x M.2 slots, so even a low-end B650 motherboard like Gigabyte B650M-K would be fine for me.

- Kingston NV2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 Internal SSD 1TB M.2 2280 -SNV2S/1000G: 74 euros
The NQ790 is a much better drive than the other two and has significantly higher endurance, which is why it is expensive, but it still uses QLC memory (the P3 Plus does too, the NV2 probably does).

I'd look at the SN580 or SN770.

It is alright, how much is Lian Li 216?

I dont understand the difference, i just want to play 1080p esports fast paced games and potential 1080p AAA thats all, with some background chrome windows.
I found a 149 euros Gigabyte B650M-K wich is not that different priced from a PCI-E 5 PRIME B650-PLUS at 174 euros, or a PCI-E 5 TUF GAMING B650-PLUS at 207 euros.
If PCI-E 5 offers better performance/graphics i will spend few more bucks, the question is: will spending 269 euros on a B650E-F change anything at all performance/graphic wise for 1080p gaming?

SSD FOUND:
- WD Blue SN580 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, PCIe Gen. 4x4, with read speed up to 4150 MB/s: 77 euros
- WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD for Gaming up to 7300 MB/s: 107 euros
Reminder that this would pair with a 4070 super + 7800X3D to reach steady 300 fps in CS2

- Lian Li LANCOOL 216 E-ATX-Gehäuse, Midi-Tower - Schwarz: 118 euros

will spending 269 euros on a B650E-F change anything at all performance/graphic wise for 1080p gaming?
There are two basic questions with any motherboard for performance:
1. Does it have good enough VRMs to support your CPU with no throttling.
2. Can it run your memory at the speed you want.

If the answer to those questions is: YES, then the price and secondary features of the motherboard is irrelevant.

When gaming, with a B650 motherboard (from low-end to high-end) and a 7800X3D, the difference between them is pretty much: margin of error.

That said, I would personally avoid the very low-end motherboards that don't even have a heatsink on their VRM.

After you have answered the two basic questions, you then look at other features, e.g.

1. PCI-E Generation of graphics slot and M.2 slots.
2. The number of M.2 slots.
3. The number of SATA ports.
4. Number and speed of USB ports (including USB Type-C).
5. The sound codec and number of jacks.
6. Presence of SPDIF (if you want it) and integrated DAC/AMP.
7. Number of PCI-E slots (if you need other cards, like sound card).
8. LAN or WIFI version and speed.
9. USB flashback and onboard clear CMOS button.
10. LED post code and onboard power ON/RESET switch.
11. PCI-E slot and M.2 latches and release button.

If PCI-E 5 offers better performance/graphics i will spend few more bucks, the question is: will spending 269 euros on a B650E-F change anything at all performance/graphic wise for 1080p gaming?
PCI-E Gen 5 graphics. Right now? There is zero benefit. In the future? We don't know yet, maybe, maybe not. Based on past history, I would say that it will be at least 4-5 years before this matters and if you buy higher-end graphics cards with 8 or 16 lanes available, it is not important.

PCI-E Gen 5 SSD. Right now? There is a benefit if you do very large file transfers/copies, but outside of that, you're unlikely to notice the difference. In the future? Again, I think at least 4-5 years before PCI-E Gen 5 drives are competitive and cheap enough to make them worth buying. It is true that games are using the SSD A LOT more than they used to, but a decent PCI-E 3.0 or 4.0 drive is enough.

Would I spend 269 euros on the B650E-F? No, not unless I wanted to keep it for 5+ years.

- WD Blue SN580 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, PCIe Gen. 4x4, with read speed up to 4150 MB/s: 77 euros
This is a better option than the NV2, it has guaranteed TLC, 2 year longer warranty and higher endurance.

- WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD for Gaming up to 7300 MB/s: 107 euros
In my opinion, 100 euro for a 1TB drive is too much to pay.

Reminder that this would pair with a 4070 super + 7800X3D to reach steady 300 fps in CS2
Doesn't matter.

Ok so with help of AI i got some results on the ASUS TUF B650-PLUS ATX:
- VRM should be fine
- supported compatible RAM speeds up to 7600+

1. - 1 x PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16 slot(s)
2. - 3 slots: The M.2_1 slot supports PCIe 5.0 x4 mode with AMD Ryzen™ 7000 Series CPUs and PCIe 4.0 x4 mode with AMD Ryzen™ 8000 Series CPUs
The M.2_2 and M.2_3 slots both support PCIe 4.0 x4 mode
3. - 4 SATA 6Gb/s ports
4. *Rear USB: - 1 x USB Type-C® 3.2 Gen 2x2 port (Up to 20Gbps)
- 2 x USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports (Up to 10Gbps)
- 1 x USB Type-C® 3.2 Gen 2 port (Up to 10Gbps)
- 4 x USB Type-A 2.0 ports (Up to 480Mbps)

*Front USB: - 1 x USB Type-C® 3.2 Gen 1 port (Up to 5Gbps)
- 2 x USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports (Up to 5Gbps)
- 4 x USB Type-A 2.0 ports (Up to 480Mbps)
5. - Realtek 7.1 Surround Sound High Definition Audio CODEC / 5 x audio jacks
6. - no SPDIF and no integrated DAC/AMP
7. - 1 x PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16 slot
2 x PCIe 4.0/3.0 x1 slots
8. - 1 x Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet port / i think no wifi but i get ethernet soon and have an adapter to put on
9. - yes
10. - LED: CPU (red) - ON/RESET switch: No
DRAM (yellow)
VGA (white)
Boot Device (yellow green)
11. - PCIe slots: 1 x PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16 slot - Release button: M.2 Q-Latch
1 x PCIe 4.0 x16 slot (supports x8/x4 mode)
1 x PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16 slot (supports x4 mode)
2 x PCIe 4.0/3.0 x1 slots

When comparing the 3 motherboards using AI, the one recommended was the B650E-F, then after explaining my use and needs i got recommended this TUF B650-PLUS wich i would go for as the price is closer to the lower end version, and has features that improve sound (Realtek 7.1) and power stability (Extreme Engine Digi+). So is that correct, can i go for it?

I also switched from 3X OC to 2X OC version of the MSI 4070 super for 30 euros less, AI says its not gonna change anything for my needs.

You didn't say if Lian Li LANCOOL 216 E-ATX-Gehäuse at 118 euros is better value than Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case at 89 euros

if your on a budget the the prime can easy handle a 7800X3D

But.. i do have the Tuf myself and it is a solid board for the money look well in a windowed system too.
yes ez choice there is only 17 euros difference between the TUF and the PRIME PLUS now. Only the PRIME B650M-K is at 50 euros less

I don’t know about in your zone. But the B650-plus and B650-plus WiFi cost the same in the uk and the only difference is one as WiFi6 included. You should look before dropping the hammer. I don’t use WiFi but the included intel Bluetooth6 is super useful

yes + some AAA from time to time, all at 1080p

really.... buy a 7600x get the prime motherboard, 1tb SSD and dump ever penny into a gpu
wait stop ive just seen your planning on using a 3060

buy the cheapest option out there, probably a 5700x3d, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd and buy a 7900 GRE or XT

Seems a lot of money to shell out for 1080p, a 10th gen cpu is still pretty decent as well.

Looking at gamers nexus CS2 benchmarks even a 10600k should be able to put out over 260fps so if your struggling you probably just need a new gpu as the 3060 was always pretty lacklustre and is only 35% faster than an 8 year old GTX1070

I went part picking with your 5700X3D + 7900 GRE cheaper option, (wich would mean i sell my monitor/motherboard/10400F/3060 8gb for 330 euros and keep my case, ssd and PSU potentially), and i go up to 1380 euros with the VG249QM1A.

My current build plan with 7800X3D + 4070 super, [wich means i sell my hole current build for 600 euros (500+144hz monitor)], goes up to 1930 euros with the VG249QM1A.

1380 - 330 = 1050 euros AM4 build with lesser components
1930 - 600 = 1330 euros AM5 build with better components

I experienced bad frametime stability + choppy gameplay with bad 1% lows between 50 - 70 on low settings, i still dont know if it was all due to playing on wifi as my ethernet is still not installed but i doubt it.
So i decided to upgrade and the prices between the am4 build and the am5 build are too similar to refuse the am5 build with the 7800X3D at 400 euros, the 1% lows are not far from monitor refresh rate its gonna be perfect and i will have better AAA performance for the years to come. All that for 280 euros more than a am4 build after i sell my current build

the tuf b540-plus is a solid mid range board..make sure you don't want wifi though or get the wifi version...think it's £10 more over here so check where you are

the 3x0c vs 2xoc from just reading without actually checking wouldf just be a 3fan or 2 fan cooler...the 3 fan generally can do the same cooling job of the dual fans, but the fans themselves spin slower(and also the finstacks are generally larger), generally meaning the 3 fan solution s/b quieter

the 4000d is a good case but comes with 1 fan. it can only take a 240mm aio in the top as it's shorter(back to front) than the 216 case...the 216 case is a redesign of the 215 case...it has 2 160mm fans at the front and can take a 360mm aio in the roof(215, like the 4000d is 240 mm), and can take a gpu up to 392mm in length(360mm for 4000d)...i prefer the 216 just as it allows a 360mm in roof if you ever upgrade to a much more powerful cpu that require more cooling and also comes with the 2 front fans....i assume for 118euro that's the rgb version? or non rgb...they do both, at different prices

they're both very good cases though, and seeing as you going for a smaller gpu and an air cooler, the 4000d is more than good enough
